Sign Project

Everyone knows that much of the Netherlands lies below sea level. Yet few people realise how much work is involved in keeping the nation’s feet dry. To raise awareness about the importance of water management, Gero Asmuth devised a series of signs that illustrate how and where man has intervened in the ongoing fight to control this natural resource. In his Sign Project, clear, graphic visuals such as a person lifting a river over a house, or a flood plain in action along a city’s outskirts, reveal the unmistakable impact of these combined efforts.
