Uni—Sex : Can Universal Gender Unify Sexes?

Uni—Sex reveals the evolution of gender identities in media imagery. The analysis distills unisex fashion campaigns to extract their visual language and cultural codes. Facts are evinced through systems of didactic graphics that show how male and female bodies are displayed in a context of gender neutrality. The project questions such images and finds contradictions between unisex fashion statements and the applied methods of representation. The research helps to redefine genderless imagery according to a more forward thinking conception of gender, and makes use of media imagery's social impact to challenge this evolution.
