Elise Metekohy

Department: Man and Mobility

Who says parents have to sacrifice style for practicality? Elise Metekohy set out to combine both in her Hipseat, a child-carrier worn on the hip and fastened with a leather belt. Although there are other versions already on the market, the designer noticed that none of these cater to fashion-conscious mums. “I wanted to make a child seat that is also a stylish accessory; something you can feel comfortable wearing to a music festival or party,” she says. This aim is reflected in her choice of materials and colours: she contrasts a rugged brown leather belt with a glossy black seat.
